If you're a fan of classic cars, you'll no doubt be aware of the awesome collection belonging to Nick Mason. Although perhaps most widely recognised as the drummer with legendary rock band Pink Floyd, Nick's first love has always been cars and he now has a collection so large that he has to keep it (or at least part of it) in an aircraft hangar.
He counts among his favourites a Ferrari 250GTO and the 1960 Maserati Birdcage in which he scored his finest racing victory (in the support race for the 1990 British Grand Prix) but each of his cars clearly holds a special place in his heart. Hence it was an honour to be asked to join him and his pit crew for this year's Goodwood event where the Muc-Off team ensured that his Bugatti T35, March 86C Indy Car and Ferrari BBLM (formerly owned by Pink Floyd manager Steve O'Rourke) were looking their mouth-watering best.
Nick is a long time fan of the Muc-Off brand and who better to endorse our new all in one polish and protectant, MIRACLE SHINE! This year's festival was as popular as ever and Nick returned to his favourite spot (behind the wheel) after taking a back seat (no pun intended) in recent months while he concentrated on other endeavours. Having already published two editions of a book which chronicles the history of his classic collection (Into the Red), he has now written a book about the band who enabled him to finance it (Inside Out - A Personal History of Pink Floyd).
With over 200 million in worldwide record sales and unforgettable albums like Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, Pink Floyd are undoubtedly one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Although cars are his passion, music has clearly played an extremely important role within his life and he is no doubt very excited by the prospect of re-joining fellow band members (Roger Waters, Dave Gilmour and Richard Wright) for next month's Live 8 benefit concert in Hyde Park. They will make up part of a star-studded line up (including U2, Paul McCartney, Elton John and Coldplay) in an event that has been organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to help fight poverty in Africa and which promises to provide an epic backdrop for their comeback gig. We weren't lucky enough to get tickets ourselves but you can guarantee that the Muc-Off team will be tuning in and wishing we were there!
