Mick Extance of Honda Racing, and Muc-Off's supported rider, is getting ready for the 2007 Dakar Rally coming up in January.
For those of you who are new to the Dakar Rally, it is the toughest rally in the World: over two weeks of hard work and thousands of kilometres over various tracks.
Both men and women enter the Dakar, and battle it out in the middle of the desert, for winning position, with Mick being one of them.
The rally has been going since 1978, with Mick competing since 2002. With his first attempt he was forced to retire from the race due to mechanical failure, but in the following year, 2003, he was the 2nd British competitor to cross the finish line, finishing 42nd place.
In 2004, 2005 and 2006, continuing with the Rally, Mick became the first British competitor to cross the finish line in all three races, making 43rd in 2004, 48th in 2005 and an impressive 27th position in 2006.
Mick has a previous track record with his racing, both motocross and mountain biking, when he started competing in 1981 with trials around the country. He has taken part in World and British Enduro Championships, on numerous occasions winning podium position for the majority.
The 2007 Dakar Rally takes place from the 6th to 20th January 2007, with 8,708 km of sand to be crossed.
