Matterley Basin in Winchester played host to the eight round of the MX GP at the weekend. Muc-Off sponsored rider, Billy Mackenzie fought hard throughout both races and managed to come third and bag a podium spot in the first race. He lost out on a win to Philippaerts and Pourcel who came first and second respectively. The second race proved a little more difficult for him and despite his best efforts he missed out on a podium place and ended up eighth.
“I'm gutted to be honest”, said the 22 year-old Scotsman, “I tried my hardest! My hand has been getting better for three weeks now, but it still forced me to have two bad Grand Prix”
In MX 1 Stefan Everts ruled race one, finishing in first place. New Zealander Josh Coppins was battling hard throughout the first race, but lost out on his second place to De Dycker and finished third instead. In the second race Stefan got knocked back to fourth after a brief slip but managed to battle through to first place, Coppins finished fifth. Dixon Yamaha's Julien Bill got himself tenth place in the first race, but dropped two places in the second instalment to finish twelfth.
