It's summer and it means that the weekends are packed with loads of great events and races to go to. So far this month the Muc-Off Tour has included the Festival Of Speed at Goodwood and the MotoGP at Donnington. At the end of last month we set up camp in the Malverns for Saab Salomon's Mountain Mayhem. The track opened at around lunchtime on the 24 June and we were there to hand out goodie bags to the Muc-Off fans attending the 24-hour enduro. As always, it proved a really popular event, with nearly 2,000 people competing. Our top events duo James and Mike were there to witness the action, “Pat put on a great show,” said James, “I think it's probably the best so far, an incredible effort was made by all the riders!” Mike agreed with him, saying; “the weather was hot, but the action was hotter!”
Not only was Mountain Mayhem a scorcher, the Motocross GP at Matterley Basin was also a huge hit with motocross fans. The weekend of the 17 and 18 of June saw thousands of fans descend on to Matterley Basin in Winchester to see the top stars of MX 1 and 2 battle it out for glory. Our very own Billy Mackenzie was competing and despite having a broken hand, still managed to get a podium spot at third in the first race. But even with his best efforts and determination in the second race, he finished in eighth place; leaving Cairoli, Philippaerts and Searle to collect the top three spots. Then in MX 1 we saw Stefan Everts claim his 95th victory by winning both races, while Dixon Yamaha's Julien Bill finished tenth and thirteenth in the two races.
The Muc-Off tour will split between team members over the next couple of weeks; some of them are trotting up to the NEC for NASS 2006 on 29-30 July, others are going to the British Motor Show also on 29-30 July and some of the team are heading to Eurobike at the end of August. We'll then be grouping together again (complete with the Muc-Off van) for the MX Of Nations/Des Nations on the 23 and 24 September. Muc-Off is the Official Cleaner of the Des Nations, so look out for the van and the crew with the goody bags there too!
