This weekend saw the Red Bull Motocross of Nations take place at Donnington Park in Leicestershire. Donnington Park is one of Britain's most popular racing circuits and home of many exciting and prestigious events, including the British Motorcycle Grand Prix, The British Touring Car Championships and World Superbikes. With the world's most elite Motocross riders in attendance and competing for the coveted “Chamberlain Trophy”, who better to have on hand than the Muc-Off team with the world's most elite bike cleaner.
With the commencement of the first race and the gates dropping to the roar of a 60,000+ crowd, the energy that spread through the event can only be described as electric. Team Great Britain was there in the shape of Billy Mackenzie, Tommy Searle and Shaun Simpson who fought valiantly throughout the weekend to take fourth place. However it was Team USA and their star-studded all-Kawasaki line-up that took the top spot. Heading up this team was AMA Supercross Champion and the current AMA Motocross Championship point’s leader James "Bubba" Stewart who was back in the team after missing the 2007 event with a knee injury. In the majestic setting of Donnington Park, even the mightiest can fall. With just a handful of laps left to go, James Stewart cross-rutted as he faced a table top, forcing him to drift too far, landing him on a hay bale. Fortunately he was up in no time, but the bike, on the other hand, was unwilling to co-operate. As James sat and kicked his bike over and over, the floodgates were opened for the rest of the field to get around the once invincible racer. It seemed desperation time for Team USA, but luckily for them, Tim Ferry was running in the same moto. In four laps, Ferry moved from 9th into 5th place to secure Team USA’s overall victory and the Chamberlain Cup.
The excitement and energetic pace wasn't just kept to the trackside. The Muc-Off team was kept extremely busy maintaining a constant supply of Muc-Off Nano Tech bike cleaner to the participating teams throughout the event. This support was incredibly well received by all the teams and kept their spectacular race machines looking fantastic and running smooth all weekend.
