Muc-Off Übershine Luxury Shampoo

“Übershine made a big impression from the minute we opened the cap”

New to our car wash test, Übershine made a big impression from the minute we opened the cap - as the citrus apple aroma is very strong. The shampoo is also thicker than most rivals and according to the recyclable pack, biodegradable, too. What appealed to us was the inclusion of the formula of 'engineered water softeners', which are designed to give a spot-free finish. They certenly work, as the Muc-Off proved more than a match for all but our winner, easing water away to the point where the panel was virtually dry.

After various tests Muc-Off performed well against the toughest stains:

“Muc-Off got it virtually perfect” - Halfords Protective with a Nylon construction
“it was untraceable after the Muc-Off treatment” - SCS Italia with a Polyester construction
“dissapeared after an application of Muc-Off” - Cosmos 310551 with 60% acrylic / 40% other fibres
“Muc-Off removed virtually every trace” - Cosmos 310549 with a Polyester construction

The Test

The first test was how well each cover fitted our sample Ford Fiesta seat. There was plenty of variation here, ranging from distinctly lacking in lenghh to ominously oversized. In many cases instructions were not included or necessary, but where they were provided we expected them to be clear and concise. Then we looked at how well the covers would stand up to nasty stains and general rough treatment. We brewed up a mixture of light oil, mud and tobacco ash and smeared a patch on to each cover. We then tried to remove it first by wiping it, then by using Muc-Off, which is sold through Halfords as a cycle cleaner but also does a great job of cleaning oil off fabrics. To see how well the covers would stand up to 'snagging' we dragged a wire brush across the squab.
