Today it is more important than ever to minimise your carbon footprint. Not only are the developed western
countries producing more and more carbon emissions, but there is a growing problem as the population in
Africa and Asia start living improved lifestyles which consume more energy.

Carbon footprint is a measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount
of green house gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide.

We have provided you with a few Eco friendly tips to help reduce your carbon footprint.

Muc-Off green living tips for your home & lifestyle:

  • Why not re-use your 1 litre bottles? We sell Muc-Off in 5 litre and 25 litre containers, so it's easily dispensed into a
    handy 1 litre. Or you could buy a Long Lead Trigger, so you can easily use from our 5 litre containers.
  • Turn it off when not in use (lights, television, DVD player, Hi Fi, computer etc. etc. ...).
  • Turn down the central heating slightly (try just 1 to 2 degrees C).
  • Turn down the water heating setting (just 2 degrees will make a significant saving).
  • Fill your dish washer and washing machine with a full load - this will save you water, electricity, and washing powder.
  • Fill the kettle with only as much water as you need.
  • Un-plug your mobile phone as soon as it has finished charging.
  • Hang out the washing to dry rather than tumble drying it.
  • Fit energy saving light bulbs.
  • Install thermostatic valves on your radiators.
  • Car share to work, or for the kids school run.
  • When on holiday - hire a bicycle to explore locally rather than a car.

Recycling and reusing...

It is a fact that if we recycle and reuse every plastic bottle we used, we would keep around 2 billion tons of plastic out of landfills. With recycling each ton of paper, we can save 17 trees and 7000 gallons of water. By using recycling paper against non-recycled paper, we save 60% of energy. Glass can endlessly be reused, and still 41 billion glass containers are made each year. By recycling one aluminium can, you will save enough energy to run a TV for 3 hours.

What to look out for:

  • Products that aren't heavily packaged
  • Loose foods, rather than pre-packaged
  • Products that are reusable or have reusable containers

So why is this linked to saving energy and Muc-Off?

In a nutshell, recycling 10 of our 1 litre Muc-Off bottles is equivalent to saving the energy used of 84 Gallons of Crude Oil, (12,000 BTU's). To help reuse your 1 litre bottles, we sell Muc-Off in 5 litre and 25 litre containers, so it's easily dispensed into a handy 1 litre.

Green? But it's Pink...

Muc-Off may be pink, but it is a very green product. Because it's biodegradable it fits under the government's quest to increase usage of biomass sources. So in effect by using Muc-Off today, you are helping the way the UK's energy is generated in 2020.
